(€85,000 3-y-o: by Shantou: third foal: brother to bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler Outofthisworld (21f winner): dam unraced half-sister to useful hurdler/smart chaser (2m winner) Toubab) successful on sole outing in points, came with a big reputation and justified it at the first time of asking under Rules, looking one of the best seen in this division so far in lowering the colours of a host of experienced rivals; close up, travelled well, produced to lead over 1f out, soon clear; has scope for plenty of improvement.

ran to a useful level on just his second outing over timber, allowed an easy lead but doing nearly everything right and full value for his performance; made running, went with enthusiasm, ridden when headed over 1f out, left behind by winner quickly, kept on; a scopey sort, he's open to lots more improvement.

ran his best race yet as he finished third in another graded novice, no match for the first 2 but sticking at it; mid-field, in touch home turn, effort over 1f out, kept on; likely to stay 2½m, there's no reason why he can't progress further.

ran to a similar level as on hurdling debut, not yet up to this better company but giving it a good shot; close up, pushed along home turn, outpaced approaching final 1f; he's still unexposed and is sure to stay further if his pedigree is any guide (from the family of Royal Athlete).

a progressive stayer on the Flat for Ed Walker, shaped better than the distance beaten suggests sent hurdling after 12 weeks off but was let down by his jumping, clobbering 2 of the 4 hurdles he had to jump; mid-division, headway before 2 out, lost place when bad mistake there, blundered again last (usual 3 out), no chance after; he's capable of much better assuming his jumping improves (sure to benefit from having his sights lowered).

Non Runners: THOMAS DARBY (IRE). Hurdles: 4. Race Distance Adjustment: +29 yds

Winning Owner: Walters Plant Hire & Ronnie Bartlett

Time: 3m 50.9s Closing Sectional: (4.95f): 70.90s (102.7%)

A race with an impressive recent roll of honour and Angels Breath looks set to keep up that tradition judged on the decidedly useful form he showed in justifying support on his first start under Rules; the pace was on the steady side but an extended run-in - the hurdles in the home straight were omitted - ensured stamina didn't go untested.
