might well be the best 3-y-o in training and put up another high-class effort to maintain his perfect record, doing well to catch a couple of high-class rivals that briefly looked like they might have got away from him; restless in stalls, mid-division, headway 2f out, chased leaders approaching final 1f, led final 100 yds, stayed on strongly; he'll continue to take all the beating in the top races at this trip for the rest of the season, especially as there's a good chance he's got an even bigger effort in the locker.

more or less confirmed his high-class performance from Haydock in a race that didn't play to his strengths quite so much as that one, not getting things all his own way thanks to the attentions of the winner's stable-companion, while forcing a fast pace into a headwind can't have been ideal either, and in the circumstances it was a very good effort to see things out as well as he did; led, went with zest, effort over 1f out, headed final 100 yds, one paced; he'd be champion sprinter material in many a normal year and will be a big player in races at this trip or even down at 5f for the reason of 2017, though Caravaggio and potentially Lady Aurelia are formidable opponents and a little way ahead of him as things stand.

couldn't confirm last-time superiority over Harry Angel but produced another personal best of his own, looking every inch a high-class sprinter who'll go well again in top company; in touch, travelled fluently, effort over 1f out, challenged final 1f, one paced.

unbeaten in 2 starts in America earlier in the year, acquitted himself very well on just the third outing of his life, not quite up to the task with the first 3 but clear best of the rest, and the experience is unlikely to be lost on him, still with potential to make up into a very smart performer; mid-division, ridden when switched over 1f out, ran on and seemd to have a bit more to give at the line.

improved again, finishing a similar distance behind Caravaggio as at Naas in May, like then picking up the pieces to some extent, and he'll need his sights lowering to find realistic winning opportunities; held up, shaken up 2f out, headway entering final 1f, never involved.

shaped similarly to his return over C&D, prominent for a long way before a weak final 1f, perhaps still needing it after another 7 weeks off, or else paying for trying to keep tabs on the leaders; chased leaders, effort under 2f out, weakened final 1f; his Robert Papin win remains a standout but he'll be worth another chance to show himself smart.

The third edition of the Commonwealth Cup and depth-wise the best one yet, both Caravaggio and Harry Angel already in the high-class bracket and Blue Point not far behind them, and in finishing 3 lengths clear that trio did plenty to suggest they'll be leading contenders in all the top sprints for the rest of the season; Harry Angel forced a sound pace into a headwind, with Blue Point never far away and Caravaggio coming from mid-field, the 3 of them having the race between them from 1f out.

CARAVAGGIO (USA) might well be the best 3-y-o in training and put up another high-class effort to maintain his perfect record, doing well to catch a couple of high-class rivals that briefly looked like they might have got away from him; restless in stalls, mid-division, headway 2f out, chased leaders approaching final 1f, led final 100 yds, stayed on strongly; he'll continue to take all the beating in the top races at this trip for the rest of the season, especially as there's a good chance he's got an even bigger effort in the locker.

MR SCARLET improved again, finishing a similar distance behind Caravaggio as at Naas in May, like then picking up the pieces to some extent, and he'll need his sights lowering to find realistic winning opportunities; held up, shaken up 2f out, headway entering final 1f, never involved.
