campaigned as a sprinter thus far, often highly tried too which suggests the regard in which he's held, produced a career best on his first try at 1m, seeing it out well under a patient ride but probably benefiting from the emphasis on speed at the trip too; in rear, headway on bridle over 2f out, shaken up over 1f out, stayed on to lead late on; likely to continue in form.

ran at least as well in defeat as when winning the time before, finding only a 3-y-o who improved on the day too strong; in touch, ridden over 2f out, led 1f out, edged right last ½f, stuck to task; better than ever at present and will continue to give a good account.

Winning Owner: Canning Downs & Partner

Time: 1m 40.9s Closing Sectional: (3.00f): 35.70s (106.0%)

A good-quality handicap and form which has the potential to work out, with a pair of 3-y-os being split by a bang in-form older horse, the winner's experience over shorter trips suiting him well in a race which tested speed.

ACLAIM (IRE) campaigned as a sprinter thus far, often highly tried too which suggests the regard in which he's held, produced a career best on his first try at 1m, seeing it out well under a patient ride but probably benefiting from the emphasis on speed at the trip too; in rear, headway on bridle over 2f out, shaken up over 1f out, stayed on to lead late on; likely to continue in form.

TRUTH OR DARE after 3 months off, ran to similar level as when hitting the frame a few times on all-weather this winter; held up, shaken up 2f out, stayed on last ½f, never nearer.

HORS DE COMBAT in first-time blinkers, wasted no time getting back to form, but continues to look hard to place; mid-field, ridden approaching 2f out, not quicken final 1f.

BALMORAL CASTLE back down in trip, shaped similarly to last time; close up, driven over 2f out, faded final 1f.
