A 4-y-o son of Frankel, Elarqam has enjoyed a successful campaign throughout 2019, and could be classed as a tad unfortunate not to have gone closer when finishing third behind Japan in the Juddmonte International at York back in August.
Having been denied a clear run inside the final furlong, Elarqam was seen finishing strongly when hitting the line, and almost certainly would have got closer to those who finished ahead of him had he not met trouble in running.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained JAPAN (5/1) just gets the better of Crystal Ocean to claim Group 1 glory in the Juddmonte International at @yorkracecourse!🏇🇯🇵
Elarqam is one of two strong hopefuls who represent Sheikh Hamdan in this year's renewal (also represented by Madhmoon), with Jim Crowley maintaining his partnership with him for this afternoon's feature race. Mark Johnston's charge comes into the race with just 3lb to find on Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings, he's likely to be involved at the finish, in what looks a fascinating renewal.
