1 - So Beloved (9)
Performed with credit in defeat this term but no win since 2016 and tough ask to snap his losing run under top weight here.
2 - Lake Volta (19)
Pair of wins this term but last couple of efforts suggest the handicapper may have his measure for now.
3 - Burnt Sugar (12)
Won this 12 months ago and followed up in International at Ascot a couple of weeks later. Not at best in his 2 outings this season but mark has come down a bit and his stable is in fine form.
4 - Keyser Soze (2)
Smart form when winning 3 7f handicaps on AW during the winter. Not disgraced when fifth in heavy-ground Haydock Group 3 latest and on a workable mark if he can fully translate AW form to turf.
5 - Kynren (7)
Loves the hustle and bustle of these big-field handicaps and been unlucky not to win one, second in Lincoln and Victoria Cup this term and best of those from low draw when fifth in Hunt Cup. Player.
6 - Three Saints Bay (10)
Better than ever when blowing his rivals away at Musselburgh in April, but more miss than hit since and seems in the grip of the handicapper.
7 - Crossing The Line (6)
Course winner who added to her tally on AW at Kempton in March. Another good run when second (Solar Gold third) in AW listed event at Chelmsford latest. Considered.
8 - Vale Of Kent (14)
Six wins from 20 Flat runs. Creditable seventh of 28 in Royal Hunt Cup on reappearance and probably worth ignoring his subsequent run on AW at Newcastle (always on back foot after slow start).
9 - Solar Gold (17)
Useful for Charlie Hills at 3 and improved efforts when placed in listed events at Haydock (6f, good to firm) and Chelmsford (7f) on both starts for new yard. Could be on a good mark back in handicap.
10 - Spanish City (8)
Improved handicapper last season who was narrowly denied on 7f reappearance on the Rowley course. Back form a lesser effort at Epsom when third over C&D latest. On the shortlist.
11 - Ambassadorial (13)
Bettered any of his useful form in Ireland when making winning start for new yard in 7f Chelmsford handicap last month. Has handicapping scope under penalty but best efforts to date have come on AW.
12 - Aces (3)
Drop in grade saw him resume winning ways in 7.5f Chester claimer last month but he had been struggling in handicaps prior to that and looks to have a bit on his plate under a penalty.
13 - Good Effort (20)
Developed into a useful performer in Britain last season. However, no impact in 3 runs at Meydan at the start of the year and returns to action in a very warm race.
14 - Shady McCoy (1)
Consistent high-end handicapper last year but yet to fire in 2019. Engaged 4.45 here Friday.
15 - Alemaratalyoum (4)
Signed off productive 2018 campaign by landing a 15-runner Haydock handicap (1m, soft). Well held first 2 starts for new yard but back on track when fourth of 12 at Epsom latest.
16 - Admirality (17)
Positive start for new yard, winning at Thirsk (7f) in May and placed on last 2 starts. Likely to give another good account.
17 - Sanaadh (15)
Back to winning ways at Kempton in March but struggled in a pair of competitive events on turf since. Others arrive with more pressing claims.
18 - Ripp Orf (5)
Course winner in excellent 2018 campaign. Good fifth in Lincoln/Victoria Cup this term and perhaps worth ignoring latest below-par run at Epsom, with this return to a straight course likely to suit.
19 - Hajjam (16)
Respectable efforts in defeat this term but bit of a surprise if he's up to resuming winning ways in a race as competitive as this. Has cheekpieces on first time.
20 - Zap (18)
Yard has taken this a few times in recent years but this one's record this term doesn't mark him down as a likely winner of a race of this nature. First-time visor replaces cheekpieces worn last time.
SOLAR GOLD looked unlucky not to go very close (finished well after meeting trouble) when third in an AW listed event last time and could be well treated from a mark in the mid-90s. Kynren has an excellent record in these big-field events and is likely to give another good account. Crossing The Line, who was in front of the selection at Chelmsford, and Spanish City are also shortlisted.
