Jumps: compact gelding: smart hurdler: won Horse & Jockey Hotel Hurdle at Tipperary (by 5½ lengths from Tigris River) in October: 6/1, below form when 21 lengths fourth of 6 to Honeysuckle in Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown last time, unable to sustain effort: unproven beyond 17f: acts on heavy going.

fared no better than last time, doing little to dispel the notion that he is not up to this company; waited with, laboured headway after 2 out, effort flattened out.

was made favourite on reputation and potential rather than form and actually improved his rating a little, though unlike in the Morgiana he had every chance on the day, seemingly just not quite up to this level at this early stage in his career; mid-field, untidy 3 out, headway before 2 out, shaken up entering straight, challenged approaching last, edged left, faded run-in; this was only his sixth start for Willie Mullins and he could easily have more to offer, though this was obviously something of a blow to his Champion Hurdle claims.

saw Champion Hurdle aspirations blemished but not undimmed, made favourite for this as the sole representative from a stable that had won the last 9 renewals (not always with the first string), yet easy to forget that this was just the seventh run of his life, and his inexperience found him out in a messy contest, deserving credit for finishing as close as he did in the end; he took a strong hold in mid-field, was reined back after 3 out but a sticky jump at the next (not his first) quickly saw him shuffled back as horses improved on his outside and the pace really lifted, hanging right slightly early in straight and untidy at the last but staying on to get up for second in a tight finish; remains capable of better and he's got live claims of reversing the form with the winner at Christmas.

had impressively accounted for the now high-class Aramon when winning the County Hurdle at Cheltenham and did what was expected by making a winning reappearance after 7 months off, his jumping not Champion Hurdle level here (generally 10/1 for that race), but it's obviously very early days, both in terms of the season and his career in general, still completely unexposed; in touch, mistake 3 out, shaken up home turn, smooth headway approaching 2 out, led there, quickened clear, in control when got in tight to the last but won easily.

very much an unknown quantity, or at least on paper as the fact he was so strongly backed 10 weeks on from landing a Tramore maiden suggested connections had a good idea he was well treated and he proved the point in some style; kept wide in mid-division, he wasn't that fluent 3 out but came there cantering after the next, his rider not moving on him until edging ahead at the last, from where he stormed clear; this performance would have been good enough to see him finish third in the Supreme and he's open to further improvement, just 4 runs into his hurdling career (ran once on the Flat).

back down in trip, confirmed previous promise this time, running out a comfortable winner; chased leaders, travelled well, produced to lead 2 out, quickened clear; remains open to improvement.

failed to meet expectations on first outing since leaving G. Cherel after 15 months off, possibly needing the run more than anticipated; chased leaders, not fluent 4 out, shaken up approaching home turn, weakened, not persevered with once held.
