in first-time visor and tongue strap, again looked in some sort of form; chased leaders 2f out, no extra final 1f.

back on all-weather, wasn't disgraced without quite delivering on the promise he showed 5 weeks ago; tracked pace, shaken up over 2f out, every chance over 1f out, weakened final 100 yds.
6 Sep 19 Asc C2 Hcap (0-105) 4/7 6 Turf 98 8f Gd/Frm (s) James Doyle 16/117 23 -/5 4 105.2 75 98+ 104+
should strip fitter for this first run in 5 months, shaping better than the bare result; held up, effort approaching final 1f, threatened briefly, badly hampered soon after and not recover; he ought to be spot on next time.

back on turf after 7 weeks off, is handicapped to the hilt but underperformed in any case; mid-division, struggling soon after halfway.
23 Feb 19 Lin C1 Group 3 5/7 7 AW G3 10f Std (s) David Probert 40/141 125.35 -/34 4 108.8 93 p100 p106
faced another stiff task; raced off the pace, took keen hold, never a threat; he may not be the easiest to place now, with his handicap mark having been reassessed to 100 following his run last time.
2 Feb 19 Lin C1 Listed 4/8 5.00 AW L 10f Std (s) Richard Kingscote 14/115 22.09 -/19 3 102.6 82 p103 p109
ran as well as could be expected on these terms, faced with a stiff task; mid-field, chased leaders home turn, hung left over 1f out, one paced; connections will hope that his handicap mark of 93 isn't adjusted on the back of this, as that is one that he can exploit.
4 Jan 19 Kem C3 Hcap (0-90) 1/8 0.20 AW 90 8f Slow (s) Richard Kingscote 3/14 5.44 9.2/- 4sk 106.1 87 p100+ p106+
produced a career best to come out on top after 6 months off, doing well under the circumstances and he's been lightly raced over the years so this needn't be his limit, with more of an emphasis on stamina than this provided absolutely no problem to him; dwelt, held up, travelled fluently, headway 2f out, switched final 1f, stayed on to lead close home, not ideally placed; will remain of interest.

had a race that ought to have suited him better than last time, the way it was run, but ran below expectations, never looking likely to pick up the principals; held up, shaken up over 2f out, plugged on, made little impression.
16 Jun 18 San C2 Hcap (0-100) 4/11 1.80 Turf 90 8f Good (s) James Doyle 7/24.5f 5.11 -/2.5 5 105.4 87 94+ 100+
ran respectably, though best not judged on this run, doing well in the circumstances, coming from well off the pace, tactics dictated by the draw; dropped out, effort over 2f out, stayed on final 1f, never landed a blow; he's still on a competitive mark.
24 May 18 San C3 Hcap (0-95) 1/13 0.10 Turf 86 8f Soft (s) Richard Kingscote 5/16 6.75 6.2/- 3ki 104.3 82 98+ 104+
back down to last winning mark and with Kingscote taking over from usual rider, proved better than ever, seemingly aided by a slightly more positive ride than usual; mid-field, travelled fluently, loomed up over 1f out, led soon after, idled final 1f but always holding on; is low mileage for a 5-y-o and shaped better than the bare result several times last year, so could easily have more to offer.
3 May 18 ChC C3 Hcap (0-95) 6/6 4.22 AW 88 8f Slow (s) Stevie Donohoe 3/14 4.7 -/5 4 103.5 81 p86 p92
wasn't disgraced but didn't finish things off that well in truth; held up in touch, driven early in straight, faded inside final 1f.

gelded since last seen, shaped well after 7 months off, never quite able to get to the leaders but doing best of those held up, whilst also leaving the impression he'll be just as effective back at 9f+; held up, headway 2f out, kept on; this isn't the first time he's done enough to suggest a mark in the high 80s is within his compass and he'll remain of interest.

29 Sep 17 Nmr C2 Hcap 4/16 2.80 Turf 88 9f Gd/Sft (s) Stevie Donohoe 12/113 13.19 -/4.1 3 103.0 75 98 104
better behaved this time and did all he could in chasing home the a wave of progressive 3-y-os, getting after them (from mid-field) over 1f out, plenty of kudos in finishing fourth in this particular race.
9 Sep 17 Kem C2 Hcap 14/16 10.5 AW 88 8f Std (s) Stevie Donohoe 6/17jf 8.15 -/7.8 98.2 66 p65 p71
disappointed, those early quirks in his career resurfacing, his response to pressure leaving plenty to be desired; mid-division, ridden straight, looked half-hearted; questions to answer.
14 Aug 17 Wnd C3 Hcap (0-90) 4/8 2.20 Turf 88 10f Gd/Frm (s) Stevie Donohoe 4/15 5.8 -/5.1 4k 115.1 52 93 99
ran respectably, his style of racing probably better served by a truer gallop; held up, travelled well, headway over 2f out, not quicken final 1f; not yet fully exposed, despite his last 2 defeats.
5 Aug 17 Thi C3 Hcap (0-90) 3/17 2.75 Turf 88 8f Gd/Sft (s) Stevie Donohoe 9/43.25f 3.73 -/2.22 4r 106.2 91 90+ 96+
on softer ground than previously, ran creditably without being seen to best effect; held up, kept on well from 2f out, never nearer, left poorly placed; again showed no sign of the kinks that marred his earlier efforts and may yet do better in a race more conducive to his hold-up style, so well worth another chance.
15 Jul 17 Yor C2 Hcap (0-105) 1/14 0.50 Turf 86 7.9f Gd/Frm (s) Stevie Donohoe 8/19 10 100/- 4kr 104.8 90 94+ 100+
in first-time cheekpieces and back on turf, progressed again and is far more the finished product now then he was a couple of months ago, doing well to score on this occasion too, overcoming a pace bias; dropped out, travelled well, headway when forced to switch under 2f out, kept on well to lead final 50 yds; type to stay ahead of the handicapper for a while longer yet.
28 Jun 17 Kem C4 Hcap (0-85) 1/9 0.50 AW 81 8f Std Stevie Donohoe 3/14f 5.5 7.4/- 2 104.5 81 p92 p98
making all-weather debut, looked far more straightforward than he has on occasions (including handicap bow last time) and duly got back on the up; chased leaders, switched right at cutaway around 2f out, quickened to lead entering final 1f, kept on; may do better still if his temperament can be kept in check.
14 Jun 17 Yar C4 Hcap (0-80) 2/6 2.00 Turf 80 8f Gd/Frm Stevie Donohoe 7/42.75f 2.78 -/2.4 2P§ 105.3 67 87 93
looked to have been let in lightly for his handicap debut and he might well prove it another day, but he's clearly not straightforward and did too much wrong to give himself a proper chance; tracked pace, pulled hard, effort over 2f out, carried head awkwardly 1f out, eased off, looked half-hearted.
15 May 17 Wnd C5 Mdn Stks 1/15 0.75 Turf M 10f Good Stevie Donohoe 5/16 7.36 9.4/- 3r 109.0 82 90+ 96+
after just 7 days off, was tucked away on the rails and thus able to negotiate the bend without mishap this time, showing himself a useful prospect for handicaps; in touch, effort over 2f out, stayed on to lead final 100 yds.
8 May 17 Wnd C5 Mdn Stks 14/14 124.5 Turf M 10f Gd/Frm Stevie Donohoe 7/18 9.01 -/5 2 107.7
raced on a straight course previously, didn't handle the bend at all, after 8 months off over 2f longer trip, effectively out of the race at halfway; close up, led after 3f, ran off the track round bend at halfway, effectively pulled up.
255 day break
26 Aug 16 Nmj C5 Mdn Stks 2/6 0.50 Turf M 8f Gd/Frm Andrea Atzeni 9/43.25 3.45 -/2.52 4p 106.3 61 84+ 90+
took a step forward from debut and did especially well under the circumstances as a stronger gallop would clearly have suited; held up, raced freely, headway over 2f out, chased leader over 1f out, ran on; he remains unexposed.
29 Jul 16 Nmj C5 Mdn Stks 3/8 1.50 Turf M 8f Gd/Frm Stevie Donohoe 9/110 20.06 -/1.79 3s 106.3 65 76 82
(by Royal Applause: second foal: half-brother to 7f/7.6f winner Venus Marina (by Tiger Hill): dam twice-raced half-sister to very smart 2-y-o 6f/7f winner Zoffany) showed plenty to work on despite looking green; dwelt, mid-field, headway over 1f out, not quicken; will improve.
