Around The Tracks: A tip for each meeting on Saturday

ArticleImage

Timeform provide a selection for each of the eight meetings due to take place in Britain and Ireland on Saturday.

Art Power - 14:30 Curragh

Art Power enjoyed the best season of his career last term, finally making the Group 1 breakthrough in the Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot in October. Prior to that Art Power had enhanced his superb record at the Curragh with wide-margin wins in this event and in the Sapphire Stakes, and his record here reads four wins from five starts, including three from three over course and distance. He disappointed over a slightly longer trip in Saudi Arabia in February but he looked on good terms with himself when a close-up fifth in the 1895 Duke of York Clipper Stakes on the Knavesmire ten days ago, showing plenty of speed, and he is entitled to take a step forward with that first start in three months under his belt. As at York, he is burdened with a penalty here but he still features prominently on Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings.

Divine Comedy - 15:30 Haydock

Divine Comedy enjoyed a productive campaign last season after joining Harry Eustace from Chris Wall, winning on three occasions, including on testing ground at Nottingham in October. Divine Comedy shaped with promise when third on her reappearance over a mile and a half at Doncaster last month, keeping on gradually under a hands-and-heels ride, and she's entitled to be sharper with that outing under her belt. She ran well when a close-up third at Kempton last season on her only previous attempt at this trip and she should prove fully effective over two miles.

Meydaan - 15:45 Goodwood

Meydaan was unsuited by a steadily-run race over a mile and a quarter on his return at Newmarket last month but he improved on that form when competing in a more strongly-run race over a mile and a half in the Lingfield Derby Trial a couple of weeks ago. He was unable to land a blow on the first two but he stuck to his task well and that form looks the best on offer so, with the potential of more to come, he's the one to beat.

Jayyash - 16:30 York

Jayyash narrowly failed to justify short-price favouritism on his handicap debut at Kempton earlier this month but he showed enough to suggest that he's started out from a lenient mark. Jayyash was further back than ideal in a race run at a steady gallop but he picked up well and was only just denied by a head. He remains well treated off a 1 lb higher mark, is still open to further improvement and should cope with this step up in trip.

She's A Saint - 16:35 Cartmel

Irish point winner She's A Saint fared well during her first campaign under Rules, winning twice and finishing runner-up on her other five starts, including once in Grade 2 company. She's A Saint hasn't been seen since chasing home Apple Away in a listed race at Doncaster in March of last year but she's in top hands with Dan Skelton, whose horses are in superb form, and her opening handicap mark looks lenient based on the pick of her novice efforts. Indeed, she's 5 lb clear at the head of Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings.

Fouroneohfever - 17:15 Chester

Fouroneohfever, a narrow winner on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton last month, was really well backed in a warm-looking event here a couple of weeks ago and he justified that support by showing improved form to triumph. The progressive Fouroneohfever found extra when challenged a furlong out, leaving the impression that he had a bit more in hand than the margin of three-quarters of a length would suggest, so a 6 lb rise in the weights might not be enough to prevent the hat-trick. He's a free-going sort and the drop in trip to a mile and a quarter is unlikely to pose a problem.

Horse Whisperer - 17:20 Salisbury

Horse Whisperer stepped up on her comeback effort when successful at Wolverhampton last month, comfortably drawing a couple of lengths clear, and she then ran at least as well when runner-up off a 6 lb higher mark at Kempton. Horse Whisperer found only a handicap debutant too strong and can have her effort upgraded after forcing a strong pace. She is clearly in excellent order at present and still appeals as being well treated after edging up 1 lb in the weights.

Thrilling Dream - 20:15 Windsor

Thrilling Dream failed to make much of an impact in maiden and novice company but he found a chunk of improvement when upped in trip on his handicap debut at Bath ten days ago, keeping on well to lead inside the final half-furlong. The way he stuck to his task at Bath suggests he'll cope well with this further step up in trip and, still open to improvement, he can defy a 4 lb rise in the weights.
