Yorksea ran a cracker to finish fourth in the Betfair Hurdle last month, especially considering he had such a hopeless position tactically, so he's very much one to be interested in over this longer trip. Too Friendly has been shaping well in defeat this season and looks sure to be adding to his 2 juvenile wins soon enough. Outlaw Peter is having just his second run in a handicap and completes the shortlist in a competitive event.

Newcastle

Burrows Hall - 16:35 Newcastle

Burrows Hall made a promising start in handicaps when third at Wetherby 12 days ago and this longer trip should bring on improvement, so he gets the nod. Gavroche d'Allier should benefit from the refitting of cheekpieces, so he's regarded as the main threat, with Eloi du Puy also worthy of interest.

Up For Parol can be excused his Carlisle performance with his 10 lb conditional doing too much too soon, and with Gavin Sheehan back on, he looks the way to go given his third-placed finish in the Lanzarote is very appealing form at this level. Hitching Jacking chases a hat-trick and has to command respect, with Limited Reserve one to keep an eye on from his much-reduced mark.

This looks ripe for Cahirdown Boy, who has hit the crossbar on his last two completed starts and promises to be suited by this drop in trip judged on his solid latest effort over 2¾m here. Routine Excellence was disappointing when tried in cheekpieces at Punchestown but is capable of playing a big part if on-song. Baldur's Gate and chasing debutante Truckers Angel, who scored over hurdles last time, are others to consider.
