My Timeform: Three recent eye-catchers

Silver Wraith (Timeform rating 71p)

Sixth, 6f novice, Windsor, Monday 12 May

Silver Wraith was unable to sustain her effort having made good headway out wide at halfway and been upsides two furlongs out, but she showed plenty to work with. This was the second time she had shaped well as she was a real eye-catcher when an unlucky-in-running fourth on debut at Sandown last season and she remains open to improvement with handicaps likely to be next on the agenda. She is with a trainer better known for her jumpers, but Emma Lavelle has already had a couple of winners on the Flat this season and Silver Wraith looks capable of adding to the tally.

Squealer (85+)

Third, 5f handicap, Thirsk, Saturday 17 May

Squealer is on a long losing run that stretches back to August 2023 and had been disappointing in Bahrain over the winter, but he shaped well on his return to Britain when third at Thirsk. Squealer was slowly into stride and raced off the pace, but he made headway over a furlong out and kept on into third, offering a solid platform on which he can build. He was running off a mark only 2 lb higher than his last winning one, while he was beaten only a nose off an 8 lb higher mark last summer, so he's fairly treated.

Signora (91p)

Third, 6f fillies' Group 3, Naas, Sunday 18 May

Signora was pitched into the deep end on her debut at Naas, taking on some of the most promising fillies we've seen in the division, but she showed plenty of ability at the first attempt and shaped well in third. Signora travelled fluently at the rear of the six-runner field, made headway two furlongs out on the heels of the eventual winner and then stuck to her task without being able to get on terms with a pair of previous winners. She boasts an excellent pedigree being by Frankel out of Queen Mary Stakes winner Heartache, which makes her a sister to the smart filly Exactly who won at Group 3 level as a juvenile and was third in a couple of Group 1s, and she's entitled to improve significantly for this initial experience.
