The race of the week that divides opinion more than any other was run without its favourite son Tiger Roll for the first time since 2017, the legend retired after being narrowly seen off by Delta Work last year, though the latter can himself now be considered a bit special having again come out on top in a titanic tussle with a high-class stablemate and joining Garde Champetre, Balthazar King and the aforementioned Tiger Roll in becoming a multiple winner of the race; the pace was a rather stop-start one but the field typically thinned out gradually, the first 2 having it between them as they entered the straight.
