Timeform and Godolphin

Comprehensive Timeform information is available on this site for all Godolphin horses, it is divided into four main sections.

List of Horses

All horses currently managed by Godolphin are displayed in alphabetical order along with the latest Timeform Rating (for horses which have run), sire and dam. Clicking on any of the horses names displays more detailed information about each horse's racing career.

Horse Name Rating Pedigree
Abhisheka (IRE) 4 b.f 118 Seeking The Gold (USA) - Anna Palariva (IRE)

The following table explains the symbols which may be used in conjunction with the ratings.

Timeform Symbols

A range of symbols can be attached to Timeform Ratings. Some, like 'the Timeform squiggle' and 'the Timeform large "P" ' have achieved widespread recognition. Here's a full list of the symbols applicable to Flat racing.

P the horse is likely to improve
P the horse is capable of much better
+ the horse (or performance) may be better than rated
? the rating is suspect or (if used without a rating) the horse is out of form or cannot be assessed with confidence
§ the horse is unreliable, for temperamental or other reasons
§§ the horse is so unsatisfactory as to be not worth a rating

Horse Details

This includes the current Timeform commentary, followed by a start-by-start account of the horse's racing career and any future races [currently on the Timeform database] for which the horse is entered. Most of the information requires no further explanation. Please note that in the going column, D indicates a race on the dirt or all-weather and T indicates a race on turf. The two right-hand columns show, for this start, the Timeform Computer Timefigure recorded (GB racing only) and the Timeform Rating achieved.

In a contest that brought together form from countries as diverse as Peru, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Singapore, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Canada and the USA, as well as Britain and Ireland, it was Discreet Cat who stamped his authority on the race with an easy success, giving Godolphin their fifth win in the race; a good pace was set by Gaburin and Dominguin. DISCREET CAT (USA) has made a very good impression in a short space of time for his new connections, who are making plans for a dirt campaign in the US; with only 3 runs under his belt, he lacks the experience usually associated with Kentucky Derby winners, but will forego another race to go straight to Churchill Downs for Run For The Roses or miss that race and go instead for the Preakness, the second leg of the US triple crown; travelling in fourth place, he was sent on into the lead 2f out, went clear a furlong later and was allowed to coast home in the final 100 yards; Godolphin's best placing from 5 attempts in the Kentucky Derby was achieved by China Visit, who was having only his third career start when sixth in the race in 2000.

It is important to understand (see 'about Timeform '), the ratings do not indicate selections in themselves, but they offer the best means of assessing the shape of a race beforehand.
