An ordinary maiden, favourite Greyt Big Stuff not improving any more for the longer trip, and seeming to idle in front, caught close home by the other one who disputed the lead (modest pace) as well as a promising debutant, and it was mostly modest form behind them. JANE OF ARC (FR) showed the benefit of a run, all the more professional this time and even rallying after looking held by the favourite, the step up in trip in her favour, by Trempolino. KIRKLEES (IRE) (by Jade Robbery; dam, French 9f winner, half-sister to smart miler Bowman (later 11f winner in UAE) out of Haydock Sprint Cup winner Cherokee Rose) was at long odds, the stable still relatively quiet, including with its 2-y-os, and this one went close in spite of his greenness, finishing strongly from as far back as ninth turning in; he should soon go one better. GREYT BIG STUFF (USA) clearly wasn't knuckling down in front, the trip probably no issue given the way he'd been shaping, and perhaps he's still learning, this his first month of racing after all. SUHAYL STAR (IRE) has evidently benefited from a break, perhaps more so from being gelded, as he got his career back on the up, while leaving the impression the trip was far enough for him for now. CENTENARY (IRE) (€21,000F, 55,000Y Traditionally half-brother to fairly useful 2001 2-y-o 7f winner Lucayan Legacy and 8.5f winner Catstreet; dam unraced half-sister to US Grade 3 8.5f/1¼m winner Gold Alert) showed fair ability, though strongly driven and never nearer, for a long way not shaping so well as a couple of other newcomers that finished further back. STRAIGHT FACE (IRE) was closely matched with Greyt Big Stuff from Yarmouth, but both his other runs, on firmer ground, have been less encouraging, tending to hang both times. MERIDIAN GREY (USA) ($25,000Y More Than Ready half-brother to winners in US) went as if needing the run more than most of the yard's juveniles have this season, almost sharing third 2f out, not given a hard time thereafter, and there's improvement in him, with 6f likely to suit as well at this stage. SMUGGLERS BAY (IRE) (€5,000F, 16,000Y Celtic Swing half-brother to useful 6f/7f winner Kingsgate Prince; dam German maiden) left the impression he'll achieve more with this behind him, perhaps if dropped to 6f, as he took a long while to settle, not knocked about after brief headway from the back. GO RED (Best of The Bests half-brother to 1m to 1¾m winner Ego Trip; dam maiden who barely stayed 11f) is probably more a longer-term prospect but travelled well for 4f, doing too much if anything. MY MONNA (Josr Algarhoud half-sister to fairly useful 2004 2-y-o 7f winner Donyana; dam, ran twice (second at 1½m), half-sister to 1000 Guineas winner Ameerat) may need another run or two before her ability comes through given how green she was here. DENTON HAWK found little, well below his first effort over 5f.
