A small but select field for this minor event, the first 4 all boasting smart form at one time, the front 2 coming clear, despite the early pace seeming just fair. RIO DE LA PLATA (USA) can use this as springboard for the tougher tests which lay ahead, getting his career back on track, near his Group-winning best in fact, as it was no mean feat to run down the race-fit second, looking like beating him comfortably but needing to battle in the end, likely to do him good; best up to this trip, on good or firmer ground, he has relatively few miles on the clock for a 5-y-o. BALCARCE NOV (ARG) is right at the top of his game at present, making the winner work hard having seized the initiative when taking the lead after a couple of furlongs, no knocking him for another placing. CITY STYLE (USA) is worth a go in headgear as his temperament is taking over, up against it with the first 2 anyway but again below his 3-y-o form. CAPTAIN BRILLIANCE (USA) is entitled to come on for this reappearance for all he won first time up in 2009, this test much tougher than that one (handicap); he's at least as good at 7f. CARCINETTO (IRE) was simply not good enough against some smart rivals, trying hard but soon left behind by the principals. ASPECTUS (IRE), smart in Germany in 2009, now has plenty to prove for this yard, below par in 2 runs at Meydan earlier in the year and poorer still here. GESSABELLE was way out of her depth.
